Mayor David Runfeldt - May 1, 2020Today is the first day of May and I cannot say that I am sorry April is over. I am very proud of how well this community has followed all health recommendations; socially distanced, stayed at home, and supported each other. The last month brought a tremendous amount of new “rules”, a new vocabulary, and a new way of thinking for all of us. Often recommendations changed, and changed quickly. What was thought of as safe and tolerable one day would be deemed unacceptable the next. Once again, as a community we did our very best to be flexible in the changes we needed to make and very strict in following them.
There has been much talk over the last week about how to best reopen our society in the coming weeks. These decisions will have a tremendous impact on our lives. Although we are the “small town” that everyone loves, much of how we return to normal will have to follow what is done in the nearby larger communities of New Jersey and New York. The last two months have been solely about public health and safety. The next few months will likely see some economic and social recovery in our daily lives. Easing of restrictions is certainly welcome. The Governor has reversed his previous order and has reopened state and county parks. Recreation activities such as boating, golf, and tennis are allowed to resume in part. None of these actions should be viewed as saying that we have eradicated the disease. It is extremely important, now as much as ever, that we continue to follow the recommendations that are in place or will be implemented to support these and future changes. ...read entire message

A MESSAGE FROM THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT:It is unfortunate that the weather is perfect and all our our wonderful recreation events, classes and programming have to be postponed/cancelled/suspended. We hope to be back to offering great programs when COVID-19 decides to leave our community. We have not officially cancelled Summer Camp or closed the Lake for the Summer - we hope to open Camp and the Lake when our Government and Health Officials tell us we will be safe in doing so.
In anticipation of the day we can resume our recreation activities, there are some things you can do to get ready for the day when Recreation re-opens. One of them is to register you family on our new on-line program - CIVICREC.
|
|
|
|
The Lincoln Park Recreation Department is very excited to offer you the ability to easily and securely view and register for activities online. CivicRec is fast, easy to use, provides around the clock access, and your account information remains private and secure. You can easily create a new account by following these simple steps: Click on the Create an Account link. Fill out the form for New Account Request completely, including all required fields (Birth Date, Gender, Email Address, etc.) and click submit. Please submit your request only once. Please note if you are registering a child for an activity, please use your own information when filling out the online registration account request form, NOT the information of the child you wish to register for an activity. Once you have an online registration account, you will have the opportunity to add family members.
Please use the link to connect to CivicRec: https://secure.rec1.com/NJ/lincoln-park-nj/catalog or click photo above!
CivicRec will allow the Recreation Department to accept credit card payments. This feature is now available.

A MESSAGE FROM PAL With spring fully upon us now, it is sad not to see kids in our beloved town not being able to play any PAL sports these days. Some wonder if we will be able to play any sports this year not only on a local level but all the way up to the professional level. Covid-19 has affected us all one way or another.
The Lincoln Park PAL is still looking to do spring sports as well as summer and fall sports that are coming upon us. With that being said, spring sports are not officially cancelled and we hope to make a decision regarding spring and summer sports once more state and local guidelines are outlined for re-opening. The safety of the boys and girls playing these sports as well as our volunteer coaches is our upmost priority at the Lincoln Park PAL. Please continue to follow social distancing guidelines as well as guidelines set by the CDC, State of New Jersey and the Borough of Lincoln Park. The PAL will update what we intend to do with the spring sports in the near future.
Stay safe all! Lincoln Park PAL Board

THANK YOU FROM EMSThe officers and members of Lincoln Park EMS would like to thank the Mayor, Council, Kathy Skrobala and the health department, and the Lincoln Park community for the support and care you have shown us during this difficult time. We are overwhelmed with the cards that have been sent, the pictures drawn by the elementary school children, hand made masks, delicious meals, and baked goodies as well as the signs and messages. It means so much to each of us. March would have been our time to send out our annual donation letters. The squad unanimously voted to suspend this donation request at this time due to so many in our community facing uncertain times either with health or employment. Keeping each of our residents in our thoughts. Thank you again!

MAY IS DROWNING PREVENTION MONTHThe drowning prevention and water safety community are very concerned that we will see a spike in drownings this year due to parents working from home, distracted, while children are also at home due to the school closures from COVID-19. Since opportunities for summer swim lessons have been canceled or postponed because of COVID-19. That leaves parents the responsibility of teaching their kids water safety and learning how to swim. The first lesson kids should learn is never go near the pool or a body of water without an adult. NOW is the time to check if pool gates are working and alarms are installed and working properly on sliding glass doors.
