JULY IS JOHNNY MARSHALL MONTH
Whereas: The Marshall Family moved to Lincoln Park in 1922 which is the year of the incorporation of Lincoln Park, and;
Whereas: John Marshall is the longest surviving and continuous resident of Lincoln Park, and;
Whereas: When John was a young boy he did farm work, picked crops and tended to his neighbor’s animals, and;
Whereas: John built airplane engines at Curtis Wright for the war effort, and worked and owned various businesses in Lincoln Park, and;
Whereas: John joined the Lincoln Park Fire Department in 1936 and still attends meetings of the department on occasion, and;
Whereas: John was called to the service of our Country in World War Two where he attained the rank of Army Staff Sergeant and earned many medals, including a Purple Heart for wounds received in combat, and;
Whereas: John joined the American Legion Post 279 following the war and remains a member to this day, and;
Whereas: John recently celebrated his 100th birthday on July 11th,
Therefore, I, David Runfeldt, Mayor of Lincoln Park Borough do proclaim the remainder of this month, July of the year 2020 to be Johnny Marshall month in the Borough, and;
Therefore ask all Lincoln Park residents to join me and the Borough Council in acknowledging John for his long life of dedication to our country and to the Lincoln Park Community and to wish him a very happy 100th birthday!
