Message from Mayor David RunfeldtIt is now the beginning of November and Election Day is behind us. By the time you read this voting will be closed around the nation and I am hopeful that winners have been declared. Our election system is truly one of the most amazing things about our democracy. Though it will absolutely be tested this year due to the fact it is a hotly contested Presidential election in the midst of a pandemic, I am hopeful that all goes smoothly and without dispute.
Please join me in congratulating the eventual winners of the elections whether they are local or national positions or Democrat or Republican candidates. Whether or not you voted for the eventual winner, that person is now represents YOU. Demand the best from your elected officials.
With regards to the pandemic, after having our largest number in new COVID-19 cases reemerge in October, I am happy to report that during the week prior to my writing this on November 1st, we have had only 4 new cases in Lincoln Park. Four cases a week is still a number that is too high for my liking, but it does show an improvement from the numbers we had in the first weeks of October.
The colder weather is upon us and will likely keep us from doing many of the activities outdoors that we have been able to. As we move more indoors, please continue to do all you can to protect yourself and those around you.
As always, please be happy, healthy and safe!
Mayor David Runfeldt
