Message from Mayor David RunfeldtAlthough it was expected, we are unfortunately now seeing the post-Thanksgiving surge in positive cases of COVID-19 with 17 reported recently. Other than the amount of cases, there has been little to update in the way of new information related to the spread of the disease in town. Yes, numbers have been increasing, but they have been throughout the country. Luckily there have been no “super-spreader” events or “hot spots” in Lincoln Park. If there had been, you would have been updated immediately. It is important to continue to follow all of the recommendations that have been made and adhere to guidelines designed to stop the spread of the disease. In addition to all of the recommendations that have been made, I would like to place extra importance on the following as we move forward in the coming days. TAKE THE CALL. Please accept the call from the Health Department when we reach out to investigate a case or notify you of a close contact. If you are uncertain if the call is legitimate, we always leave the health department call back number 973-270-2037. Please take the call or return the call as soon as possible.
BE RESPONSIBLE. It comes down to individual responsibility to stop the spread. This may mean not hanging out with friends or extended family right now. Following Thanksgiving, we are seeing an increased incidence of transmission throughout entire households. Please keep this in mind also with the upcoming holidays quickly approaching. Avoid situations in which you are uncomfortable. There continue to be varying degrees of what is allowed, recommended or advised. Do not put yourself in a situation in which you are dependent on someone else for your safety.
WEAR A MASK. It has been said many times before, but I can’t stress the importance of wearing a mask to help prevent the spread of the disease. As always, please remain vigilant for your health and safety and for the community as a whole. Please be safe, happy and HEALTHY!

Lincoln Park Fire Department With the colder weather upon us, please remember some of these important safety tips to ensure the well-being of you and your loved ones.
It is important to make sure you check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors yearly. You want to make sure the batteries in both detectors are still good and working. The average shelf life for these detectors are 7 years. You can find the expiration date of your detector by taking it down and looking at the back of it. All new detectors are good for 10 years.
It is also important to use extra caution with wood burning stoves, electric heaters, candles and Christmas/Holiday lights. When leaving your house, check to make sure nothing has been left on that could lead to a fire.
The Lincoln Park Fire Department would like to wish all the Residents and Business Owners of Lincoln Park a Happy and Safe Holiday and New Year!
Chief Joe Fede
