Mayor's Message - December 1, 2020===============================================Although it was expected, we are unfortunately now seeing the post-Thanksgiving surge in positive cases of COVID-19 with 17 reported recently. Other than the amount of cases, there has been little to update in the way of new information related to the spread of the disease in town. Yes, numbers have been increasing, but they have been throughout the country. Luckily there have been no “super-spreader” events or “hot spots” in Lincoln Park. If there had been, you would have been updated immediately.
It is important to continue to follow all of the recommendations that have been made and adhere to guidelines designed to stop the spread of the disease. In addition to all of the recommendations that have been made, I would like to place extra importance on the following as we move forward in the coming days.
- TAKE THE CALL. Please accept the call from the Health Department when we reach out to investigate a case or notify you of a close contact. If you are uncertain if the call is legitimate, we always leave the health department call back number 973-270-2037. Please take the call or return the call as soon as possible.
- It comes down to individual responsibility to stop the spread. This may mean not hanging out with friends or extended family right now. Following Thanksgiving, we are seeing an increased incidence of transmission throughout entire households. Please keep this in mind also with the upcoming holidays quickly approaching.
- It has been said many times before, but I can’t stress the importance of wearing a mask to help prevent the spread of the disease.
- Avoid situations in which you are uncomfortable. There continue to be varying degrees of what is allowed, recommended or advised. Do not put yourself in a situation in which you are dependent on someone else for your safety.
As always, please remain vigilant for your health and safety and for the community as a whole.
