The Borough of Lincoln Park is proud to announce that the installation of its first three ChargePoint Level 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. Each of the three new EV Charging Stations is dual-port device, meaning that a total of six vehicles may be charged simultaneously. The new EV Charging Stations, purchased in part with a twenty-four-thousand-dollar grant secured through the NJ DEP “It Pays to Plug In” Electric Vehicle Charging Grants Program, are located in center isle of the municipal building parking lot just as you enter off of Boonton Turnpike, between the Library and LPFD Hose Co. 1, and are available 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
The fees for EV Charging have been set by ordinance at $2.00 for the first two hours of EV Charging and $3.50 per hour for more than two hours of EV Charging. It is our hope that visitors to Borough Hall, the Lincoln Park Library, Borough Field, and those patronizing local businesses can take advantage of these new EV Charging Stations.
It should be noted that it is a violation of Borough Ordinance 4-22 to park or stand a non-electric vehicle in a designated EV Charging space or to park an electric vehicle in such a space when it is not connected to the EV Charging Station. Vehicles in violation of the ordinance are subject to fine and/or impoundment.
While it is recommended that the ChangePoint App, available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store, be used to access the new EV Charging Stations, the ChargePoint EV Charging Station may also be utilized by simply tapping a contactless credit card.
