John S. Sass
John S. Sass age 70 of Lincoln Park passed Dececember 2nd. Born in Montclair he resided most of his life in Lincoln Park. John was a member of the Lincoln Park Police Department for 20 years, joining in 1970 and retiring as a Sergeant. During his time in the Department, John was also a detective and his famous case was the arrest and prosecution of the “Pillowcase Gang”, a burglary group at the time. John also received a Valor Award for his role in arresting an attempted armed robbery at what is now the Bank of America.
John later became an International Investigator for Continental Airline, then Operations. Manager with Allied Barton Security. He enjoyed spending time on his boat "Latitudes" and after receiving his Captain's license he participated with SeaTow & Rescue Operations.
Visitation at Keri Memorial is today, Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00pm. Funeral Mass is 10am Friday, December 8th in Our Lady of Good Council, Pompton Plains. Interment will follow the mass at Our Lady of The Magnificat, Kinnelon.
